Flooring in Croton, OH
There’s something beautiful and alluring about small towns, and Tee’s flooring is delighted to offer its services in Croton, OH. This charming and exotic community has a rich history, but perhaps one of the most intriguing facts about it is that Croton is not actually its name. The town is known as Hartford, and Croton is its post office.
This enchanting village was mapped out by Elijah Durfey and Ezekiel Wells on September 20, 1824, and it has bloomed into the quaint town we know of today. Durfey, one of its founders, began his political journey in Croton, and in 1833, he was appointed as the first postmaster. Here’s where it gets interesting; since there was already a Hartford Post Office in Ohio, the post office needed to bear a different name. At first, it was named Granby, but in 1843, it was changed to Croton, a name that has stuck around until today.
Croton is a small community of 323 people. At its prime, Croton featured two dry goods stores and three hotels. Before the state highways were established, there was a train that would transport people to the village, but it eventually stopped.
Despite being a small community, there are a lot of fun activities to engage in. For instance, there’s the Sharon Speedway which is an amazing auto racing track. It’s one of the oldest racetracks in the nation that continuously hosts weekly races – and was even featured in NASCAR competition once.
Croton also hosts fine dining places and luxurious accommodation spots that feature a mixture of vintage and modern charm. There are also game parlors and a gift shop should you wish to get a sweet reminder of this beautiful community. One of Croton’s popular landmarks is the Village Lighthouse Church which has been around for a long time.
